The Health Ethics and Policy Lab focuses on ethical and policy challenges in precision medicine and digital health. The advances in genomics, omics and data intensive research, have brought medicine and healthcare to an inflection point. Such progress holds great promise for improving individual and population health, while also presenting unprecedented ethical and regulatory challenges in areas such as privacy, individual freedom and risk policy. In order to harness the full potential of those novel approaches in health care, robust ethical policies are needed to resolve novel and pressing issues. At the lab, we identify and tackle the key ethical, legal and societal implications (ELSI) of precision medicine and digital health. The complexity of these questions calls for an interdisciplinary approach to research in bioethics and health policy, which is why, our team has expertise in philosophy, social science, clinical medicine, public health, data science, health policy, law. (Source: https://www.ethz.ch/content/specialinterest/hest/institute-itm/bioethics/en/the-group.html)
